Ground Zero Memorial

A visit to Ground Zero is a sober reminder of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center that fell tragically on September 11, 2001. The World Trade Center site is the 16 acre site where the WTC complex once ruled over the New York skyline of Lower Manhattan.

Tribute World Trade Center & Freedom Tower Site. To memorialize the fatal events of 9/11, the Tribute World Trade Center is an intense place where we can pay or respects and celebrate our humanity. Today, hope rises out of the ashes with the new construction of Freedom Tower, which at 1,776 feet tall, will become the centerpiece of the new World Trade Center complex and serve as a site of hope and remembrance. Designed by Israeli architect Michael Arad, the National September 11 Memorial called "Reflecting Absence” is being constructed on a 16-acre site and is expected to be completed by 2010.

The memorial will feature a forest of trees around two square pools with gaping holes in the center, where the Twin Towers once stood. The exciting new complex will also offer a museum and performing-arts center. The International Freedom Center and a Drawing Center will "retell the events of the day” through powerful artifacts that celebrate the lives of those who died.

Visitors may also pay homage at Battery Park, which features an eternal flame and mangled centerpiece of "The Sphere for Plaza Fountain" which adorned World Trade Center plaza before the attacks.
